Experience
I received my bachelor's degree in General and Special Education from the University of Vermont. I then went on to receive my master's degree from St. John's University. I have taught students of many ages over the past 20 years. I have worked as a Special Education and reading teacher from kindergartners up through high school seniors. As a Special Education teacher, I have worked in every content area, including Math, Social Studies, English, and Math. I also work with students to help prepare them for the state exam in English Language Arts. I strive to instill comprehension strategies and study skills in all of my students. I have a lot of experience in providing strategies to help increase students' reading comprehension. I understand how challenging school can be, and I strive to help even the most overwhelmed students succeed. I know that a little extra support can be a great help to any student needing to boost their self-esteem and increase their confidence. My experience, knowledge, and patience with children are great assets to guiding any struggling student toward success.When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy reading, skiing, cycling, and traveling.
