Hello my name is Melissa. I am a 27-year-old New York State certified teacher. I have been teaching since 2011 and I am currently working as a full time science teacher at a private school in Suffolk County. Science is my passion and sharing my passion for learning with my students is something I am proud of. My strengths lie in science and mathematics. Additionally, I specialize in working with students with disabilities. I have been tutoring since high school, where I would peer tutor students in the grades below me. I have experience tutoring in living environment, earth science, and chemistry. I also have experience tutoring in mathematics and using common core methodology. I have experience working with students grades K-12. Tutoring students allows me to get a better understanding of how they process information. When I tutor it is important to get to know the student I am working with. Creating a understanding with the student that lets them know I am on their side and only there to help them to be successful. It is important to create a safe environment in order to better help each student to achieve their goals and the goals parents have for them.
